Advanced Band

The Advanced Band is the pinnacle of GCHFA's concert band program; students are accepted into this ensemble by audition only. In addition to performing in GCHFA's Winter and Spring concerts, students will participate in the highly-regarded Concert Music Performance Assessment (MPA).​

During the week, students will be required to submit playing tests and listening homework through Google Classroom. Their homework will be reviewed by their instructor, and students will receive feedback to affirm or correct their work.

Participation in the Advanced Band is not just about performance; it is also about growth and camaraderie. This experience is designed to prepare students for future musical endeavors, whether they continue on to collegiate-level bands or pursue a lifelong passion for music. It is highly recommended that students simultaneously participate in a theory class. Those with previous theory experience may take a placement test to find the most appropriate level for them. Be sure to add it to your cart when enrolling!

The standard yearly enrollment fee is $150.
