Building upon the foundation established in Music Theory I, students expand their understanding of music through the study of scales, keys, intervals, and harmony. This course develops stronger note-reading and rhythmic skills while introducing the relationships between notes that form the basis of melody and chord structure.
Students explore the grand staff, eighth notes and rests, intervals, whole and half steps, accidentals and enharmonic notes, major scales, the Circle of Fifths, key signatures, triads, primary chords (I, IV, and V), major and minor thirds, syncopated rhythms, tempo markings, musical vocabulary, and ear training.
Recommended concurrent enrollment: Beginning or Intermediate Band, Beginning or Intermediate, Boys Choir, Girls Choir, or Mixed Choir; a placement test must be completed in order to enroll.

The standard yearly enrollment fee is $150.
