Music Theory III
Building upon the foundation laid in Music Theory I and II, Music Theory III challenges students to dive deeper into advanced musical concepts. Whether your child sings or plays a band or string instrument, this course will equip them with the tools needed to become more confident, expressive, and skilled musicians.
Topics include key signatures with up to five sharps/flats, the circle of fifths, melodic minor scales, triad inversions, cadences, transposition, complex rhythms (dotted eighth notes, triplets, compound time), and more. Students will also refine their understanding of musical terminology and notation through written exercises that promote long-term retention.
By the end of the course, students will have a stronger grasp of music theory, preparing them for more advanced performance, composition, and analysis. Music Theory III is both challenging and rewarding—an essential step in becoming a well-rounded musician.
