Music Theory I provides students with a strong foundation in the language of music. Through engaging written exercises, listening activities, and rhythm practice, students learn to read and write music while developing the essential skills needed for successful instrumental and vocal performance.
Students explore the musical alphabet, keyboard layout, staff notation, note naming, time signatures, dynamics, articulation, sharps and flats, and whole and half steps. Additional emphasis is placed on musical vocabulary, ear training, and rhythmic accuracy.
Required when concurrently enrolled in: Beginning Band, Applied Strings
Recommended concurrent enrollment: Boys Choir, Girls Choir
