Ellen Singer

Ellen Singer has over thirty years of experience as a music educator and is passionate about teaching music to students of all ages. Originally from the northern suburbs of Chicago, she directed the Madrigal Singers at Adlai E. Stevenson HS in Lincolnshire, IL as well as concert and show choirs at schools in the Chicago suburbs. Ellen currently teaches private voice and piano lessons at Suzuki Institute School of Music and serves as the Operations Manager for Sarasota Young Voices.

Ellen received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Illinois and a Master of Music from DePaul University. She is a founding member and President Emeritus of the Northern Illinois Music Conference, which seeks to foster and promote the advancement of music education in public and non-public schools. She has served as an adjudicator for the Illinois Music Education Association, Illinois High School Association and the Illinois Grade School Music Association.

Ellen sings soprano in the Key Chorale of Sarasota, the Suncoast’s premier symphonic chorus, and enjoys playing flute and piccolo in her spare time.
