Beginning Band

Beginning Band is open to students with little or no musical training or experience playing a chosen instrument.  To participate in Beginning Band, students must be at least 9 years old and attend an instrument fitting.  An instrument fitting includes a Musical Aptitude Test and an opportunity to see and play all the different instruments that are available. These things combined can help determine on which instrument a student will be most successful and will enjoy playing based on their abilities and desire. 

Every effort is made to ensure a student's musical success.  The band director, along with other qualified instructors, will teach a student to play their instrument. Instruction will include specific break-out sessions, focusing on their chosen instrument, and then coming together to learn to play as a whole while preparing for the concerts.

Music theory will also be part of their class at no extra cost.
