Jazz theory is an extension of Fusion Jazz Band. Students will meet on Zoom and submit assignments virtually in order to learn about basic elements of jazz music including various styles, chords, modes, composition, voice leading, improvisation, and how to use it all while playing. This course is meant for students who have a basic understanding of music theory and want to apply it in a practical way. Though it is for students in Fusion, advanced students from other classes can still greatly benefit from this in-depth study of music theory and are welcome to join!
