Beginning Orchestra

Age: 8+

Time: Mondays, 2:15 - 3:15pm

Annual Class Fee: $180*

Instructor: Cynthia Wiley

Beginning Orchestra is an exciting step up for students who have completed at least one year of Applied Strings. This class is designed to build upon the foundational skills they have acquired and take their musical abilities to the next level - full string ensemble.

In this class, students will continue to learn from Essential Elements 2000 - Book 1 and will begin exploring Essential Elements 2000 - Book 2. These method books are designed to enhance understanding of musical concepts and techniques.

Additionally, the class will offer opportunities for concentrated, small group sessions with section instructors. Ultimately, Beginning Orchestra is aimed toward improving students’ specific skills, building confidence, and helping each one become a more proficient and self-assured musician.

Students are accepted into this group by instructor recommendation; students not recommended by an instructor or with string experience outside of GCHFA may audition.

*Classes would be 3x this price without the generosity of our annual donors!

A yearly, non-refundable enrollment fee of $100 per student is due at time of registration;

this fee will increase to $125 on July 29, and to $135 on August 31.
